Through customer research and continuous experimentation, we make sure the customer is involved in building the best classifieds experience in the world. We ve organized ourselves around the key stages of the customer journey on Marktplaats. Every journey team is a cross functional team consisting of product managers, business owners, UX designers, developers, analysts and marketers. We are rapidly moving to a future where not people, but the data decide what to serve the customer, and to implement data driven decision engines, we need to bring engineering, analytics and product management together. We are looking for a creative, results-oriented data scientist that provides the link between these disciplines, and helps us take the next step towards data driven product development. That s you! You see the possibilities in all the data we have, know exactly what else to start collecting, and know how to use it to build awesome data based product features together with a multidisciplinary team. YOUR JOB Identify opportunities to use data in our product, that will have the biggest impact on reaching our goals, by analyzing user behavior (e.g. searching, buying and selling) Be the data evangelist that works with the product analyst, engineers and product manager to make sure we make the best use of available data, and build data based product features that drive our objectives and key results Help the team decide what more data to gather, how to model it and set it up in such a way that we can use this data to improve customer experience and find commercial opportunities YOUR PROFILE 3-5 years of experience in a data scientist function a M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Computer Science, Econometrics, Statistics etc) Proficient at the use of machine learning algorithms both supervised and unsupervised. Familiarity with ML tool-kits such as scikit-learn, h2o, caret. Excellent at working with huge amounts of data, both in conventional data bases (SQL) as well as distributed technologies (Hadoop and Spark) Experience with the use of appropriate statistical tools (in f.e. R or Python) to validate outcomes Excellent at using the right visualizations to support your conclusions Strong communicator and fluent in English Demonstrating creativity and initiative, and acting in a result orientated way. Prior experience working with multidisciplinary development teams and/or an online environment is an added advantage Interested?
